Letter: Vote for leader who values clean energy

Donald Trump recently released his energy policy and it doesn't surprise me that his policy did not feature plans to build a clean energy future.
Trump has adamantly opposed a clean energy economy, which provides thousands of jobs to Iowa families, and would help protect our climate, air and water quality, and grow our nation's economy. I've lived in Iowa my whole life and my home state is a perfect example of a clean energy success story.
Iowa is No. 1 in the country for wind production with 31 percent of the state's electrical needs met by wind energy alone. Wind energy also provides over 6,000 jobs to Iowa families. But with Trump as the GOP presidential nominee, our clean energy future is at risk.
As a young voter, climate change is a top issue to me in this election and with Trump as the leader of the Republican Party, it's time young voters make our voices heard. We don't want a leader who will jeopardize our families' health and the legacy we'll leave behind. We want leaders who have concrete solutions to combat climate change.
Join me in standing up to Trump by registering to vote. With each vote, we cannot only make our voices heard and show Trump that we don't share his views, but also demand a leader that will build a healthier, more prosperous future for all.
