Letter: Vote for Democrat Scott Peterson

Currently, the Iowa House has a considerable Republican majority; the Iowa Senate Democrats hold a majority by two votes. If that majority is lost, the State of Iowa is likely to be forced to live with significant corporate tax reduction, a boon for large out-of-state corporations with Iowa locations and a loss for Iowans in the amount of tax money available for the many needs of education, environment, mental health, and state infrastructure. If that majority is lost Iowa workers will lose many current rights that ensure fair treatment in hiring and firing, working conditions, and workers' compensation. If that majority is lost a huge number of Iowa women, especially those with low incomes, will lose their source of health care when Planned Parenthood is defunded. If that majority is lost an amendment to the state constitution to ban same-sex marriage could take away the equality for all Iowans that has made Iowa a national leader in 'liberty and justice for all.”
