Letter: Veteran grateful to participate in Honor Flight

I was honored to go on the veteran's Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., on Oct. 3. I want to express my appreciation to all the volunteers, donors and individuals who made this flight possible. Also, a special thank you to Rockwell Collins who sponsored the flight and to the Cedar Rapids Corvette Club that presented us with a beautiful plaque.
Our group had the distinction of being the only Honor Flight to be canceled due to weather in September.
It was well worth the wait, however, to be rescheduled. The entire trip was well planned and very enjoyable. But I think the highlight of the trip was the reception we received when we returned to the Cedar Rapids airport. It was absolutely overwhelming. I expected maybe a dozen or so well wishers, but instead there were hundreds of people greeting us and thanking us.
Thanks to all of you who came out. You made a special day even more special.
