Letter: Vernon will get economy working
Rep. Dave Loebsack
Nov. 6, 2016 1:00 am
Over the years, I've had the opportunity to work with Monica Vernon on a variety of projects. I've seen firsthand the work ethic, drive and commitment she has for the families of northeast Iowa.
When there's a need, she is the first person to roll up her sleeves and get right to work. Whether it was bringing people together to raise funds and build the first shelter for homeless women and children in Cedar Rapids or spearheading the efforts to rebuild after the historic flood of 2008, she has been there to bring people together and get the job done.
I've represented portions of the 1st District, I understand the needs of the area. Getting the economy to work for everyone is the number one priority. Vernon shares that vision. She started her own small business and knows what it takes to create good paying jobs, to invest in our workers and help grow small businesses. As a mom, she knows how important an early education is and will help make it easier for families to get ahead with equal pay for equal work, affordable child care and paid family sick leave.
It's key we elect Vernon to Congress, I need her fighting by my side for every hardworking Iowan. Together, she and I can make progress for our middle class.
Rep. Dave Loebsack
Congressman, Iowa's 2nd District
