Letter: Use reason when casting your vote

Nigel Farage announced he was resigning as leader of Britain's UK Independence Party. He, along with the also-absent Boris Johnson, was one of the primary leaders of the Leave movement, a campaign designed to trick the British people into voting against their own interests in the Brexit.

Farage and Johnson got what they wanted and Britain voted to abandon the EU. Now Farage and Johnson have abandoned Britain. They must know their campaign wasn't founded on facts or data or reliable economic projections; it was founded on anger and hatred, blame and fear.

Now the vote is complete, the damage is done, and all that remains is the merciless truth: Britain is headed for decline. As their economy stumbles, investors retreat, and employers begin moving abroad, the British people are facing the consequences of ignoring reason and voting on emotion.

Let's hope American voters make a wiser decision in November.
