Letter: University paid too much for research goat

An article in the Iowa Today section of Feb. 3 'Escaped goat from UI has PETA perturbed,” has me perturbed also, or wondering why anyone would pay $1,009.58 for a research goat (or any goat)?
I have a friend who can supply you with all the goats you need for several hundred dollars less (per goat, of course).
The money you would be saving could be spent on a secure (as the PETA people call it) 'sanctuary” (more often called a pen or barn).
