Letter: Tours will not showcase true picture

Let's face it - we have no choice and we will be forced to see the Crestwood Ridge affordable housing complex built. Money talks. Now I understand that tours are going to be set up to try and take away the negative perception of affordable housing. Will it showcase the true picture? I doubt it. Instead, I'm sure they will tour newly built complexes and houses. They have to paint the right picture you know to be an effective tool.
Instead, I ask them to tour the complexes that were once new, but have now been allowed to deteriorate and fall into disrepair. See what the concerns and fears are of the folks you are asking to accept this. We aren't stupid you know - we too can see for ourselves - we don't need a select guided tour.
Unlike the individuals who 'rent” in the affordable housing - homeowners have a vested interest in their property. We have an incentive to maintain and upgrade our homes. Renters don't have any vested interest. There are two sides to every story and I think both sides should be heard and listened to.
