Recently, I received an envelope from Record Transfer Services that had a warning on the front saying $2,000 fine, 5-year imprisonment or both, for any person interfering or obstructing with delivery of this letter.
Looking pretty impressive, it was a request for $83 to have a current grant deed and property assessment profile.
I called the recorder's office and was instructed to tear it up. It should cost no more than $1 to get a copy.
The letter came from Westlake Village, Calif. Why would they be sending this to someone in Iowa? How many others have been schemed by this company? Please warn others and stop this company from ripping people off.
