Letter: Time to pray when lights go out

I usually reject so-called apocalyptic biblical analyses of world events. The fundamentalists have overactive imaginations. But as to the situation in North Korea, an interesting convergence could occur. In a few days a major solar eclipse will take place. An eclipse is a biblical symbol of change, and often regime change. The question is, just whose regime will change?

Americans (and South Koreans) are behaving as if tomorrow will be the same as today. But it isn't necessarily so. However, I have no power to change a culture, so my advice to everyone who isn't inclined to pray and repent is this: Keep on doing what you're doing now. The 'sweet hour of prayer” on your knees is a thing of the past. Continue with your excessive consumerism, your extramarital affairs, your sharing of cutesy nonsense on Facebook, and your Hawkeye-dolatry. There will be plenty of time to pray when the lights go out.
