Letter: Thoughts on visit to the Statue of Liberty
Floyd Sandford
Mar. 24, 2017 1:00 am
During a recent visit to New York City I traveled to Battery Park and observed the view of the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor, a wonderful sight that has brought tears to the eyes of millions of immigrants from all over the world, coming to this country seeking freedom from oppression over the course of our short history.
I then thought about the fate of the Native Americans who had called this land home for many centuries before those new immigrants arrived. And then I thought about men like Steve Bannon and Steve King who are so unhappy living in this land of immigrants and who would have been so much happier working for the Third Reich.
