Letter: Those who inherit should pay a tax

Sen. Chuck Grassley: Thank you for clarifying your latest voice about the poor versus the rich.
When I was in high school my friend, Janet, and I went to movie matinees on Saturday afternoons. We should have saved our money to purchase a farm instead of indulging in movies. When I got older I blew money on booze if you call 15 cent draft beer boozing it up while dancing and listening to music in a Rock Island bar. My dad and I attended baseball games in the summer. Ticket price was 50 cents. We should have saved our money and invested in a farm.
Since I am a woman I wasn't womanizing, but my brother bought his girlfriend McDonald hamburgers for 15 cents. He shouldn't have squandered his money on a woman. He should have purchased a farm.
We poor folks just squandered our money on pleasurable pursuits. I praise farmers for their business acumen and hard labor, but those who inherit a farm worth more than $5.5 million should pay a tax. We need to keep the public schools running and fix broken bridges.
