Letter: The U.S. is not a democracy

I read a letter in which our government was referred to as a democracy. Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution states: 'The United States shall guarantee to every state in the union a Republican form of government.” We should ask a member of Congress to ask the Congressional Research Bureau to seek the legislative history of this section of the Constitution.

Decisions of the Supreme Court are being enforced, even when they violate the Constitution or laws.

Congress can help by requiring the Judiciary Committee to examine the court's decisions and where mistakes are found correct the errors with legislation.

The office of the president should examine the decisions and bring the errors to the attention of the Congress and the people.

Some of the decisions are helping to put the government into heavy debt. The protesters may be doing more harm than good. Suggestions on how to correct some of the problems might encourage a joint effort to make a change for the public good. When we work together for a better understanding of our Constitution and laws, we will obtain better court decisions.

When the legislative history of this section of the Constitution or the legislative histories of the laws are used rather than an interpretation by the court, we may bring about more equal justice of the court's decisions.
