Letter: Thank you, Hawkeye volunteers

March at The Crisis Center of Johnson County started off with a successful pancake breakfast. We served more than 1,000 people with the help of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and more than 50 volunteers.
We want to send a special thank you to the eight Hawkeye football players who spent a Saturday doing some of the hardest, dirtiest jobs we had for them. These young men aren't often recognized for the good they do off the field, so we felt it was important to let the community know what a huge help they were.
Thanks to Broderick Binns, director of player development and former Crisis Center Food Bank volunteer, the players are getting involved in the community and they deserve to be recognized. They arrived early and stayed late and worked hard the entire time they were there. We are grateful for their help and we look forward to having them back next year.
