Sen. Chuck Grassley said, 'I think not having the estate tax recognizes the people that are investing, as opposed to those that are just spending every darn penny they have, whether it's on booze or women or movies.” Since the estate tax applies to individuals worth $5.49 million or couples worth $11 million, is he saying all of us worth less live lives of debauchery?
I would suggest that members of Congress who voted to increase taxes on those earning less than $75,000 while further decimating access to health care are unethical. The bill will necessitate a 4 percent reduction in Medicare and several members wish to cut Social Security next. If you are among the majority who oppose this bill, call Sen. Chuck Grassley, Sen. Joni Ernst and Rep. Rod Blum.
