Sep. 27, 2017 1:00 am
The fall season is upon us and, for the third year, Fresh Start Ministries (Linn County Correctional Chaplaincy) is receiving support from the Mount Mercy University Music Department. A benefit is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Oct. 8 in the Chapel of Mercy, Busse Center at 1330 Elmhurst Dr. NE.
Fresh Start Ministries has approximately 80 volunteers who visit between 340 to 410 incarcerated. They also have 15 navigators volunteering with the RISE Program by assisting individuals released from jail/prison with food, jobs, housing, etc. These navigators spend a few hours five days a week supporting those in need. Fresh Start also has Circles of Support, which is graced with many volunteers giving individuals an opportunity to live a more meaningful life.
Come, bring your friends, and relax while enjoying the performance of the University Choir, University Band and Madrigal Singers under the direction of Dr. Gerald Kreitzer and Steve Stickney.
Freewill offering. If unable to attend, please consider supporting Fresh Start Ministries, P.O. Box 1322, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 52403.
