Letter: Superdelegates play an important role
Eugene Spaziani

Please, citizens. Stop denigrating superdelegates.
Bernie Sanders and followers should understand the delegates' vital role. Yes, the system is rigged, and with great deliberation. Political parties are not democracies and must protect themselves while maximizing the chances of winning. The superdelegates are the longtime leaders, experienced in the ways of politics and of winning elections, since usually they are elected office holders.
In other words, they are the party's adults and are there not only to advise, but to prevent a Trump-like unmitigated disaster. Well done, Democrats!
