Letter: Show more high school athletic games on TV

I would like to congratulate student athletes from corner-to-corner and border-to-border in Iowa for all the hard work they do. Win or lose, they put in many hours of practice, time in the weight room and extra hours of work at home. Their passion and dedication is bolstered by families, friends, volunteers and coaches who support these athletes by spending countless dollars and traveling countless miles to practices, camps and competitions. From the time these students are kids until the time they compete at the high school level, the people of Iowa are behind them.
Unfortunately, with the current broadcast rights to some of the state championships, many Iowans no longer see these outstanding student athletes perform on their biggest stage. I don't know where the money trail goes that support these decisions, but I do know where it starts and that is with people from all around the state who purchase groceries, gas, insurance and other products and services from companies that in turn sponsor these events.
Going forward maybe the first paragraph for the television contracts of these events should start with 'corner-to-corner, border-border of the state of Iowa.”
