I'd like to take a moment to thank Rep. Rod Blum for saying 'no” to proposals to cut Medicare Advantage that would adversely affect senior citizens like me, throughout the country.
After a recommendation from friends, I joined a Coventry Medicare Advantage plan. Through this plan, I have been able to seek medical attention from doctors that I am satisfied with at a rate I can afford. My husband is a diabetic and our health insurance helps provide necessary medical equipment to manage his condition. Our plan also covers regular checkups and includes prescription coverage. I am concerned that any further cuts to the Advantage program may cause doctors to leave the network, which would present a problem for us.
I have lived in Iowa for 68 years and have served as an election precinct official, so I am typically very involved in the political process. I appreciate it when my representative supports issues that matter to me, so I encourage Blum to continue to take a stand for those of us who have paid our dues and should retain access to the benefits we deserve. I hope he continues to be our voice in Congress and encourages other representatives to be more empathetic to the plight of senior citizens. Congress needs to protect Medicare Advantage benefits for seniors and stop any action that may potentially financially devastate millions of us.
