Letter: Senators have a duty to perform

When Antonin Scalia passed away, before his body was cold, the fight over his successor had begun. All those Republicans you saw previously touting the Constitution, the need to respect it, the need to uphold it and the need to follow it always were saying that President Barack Obama should not appoint the successor and that we, the people, should have a voice, that voice being who we elect next.
The Constitution says the sitting president should appoint the successor and the Senate has the duty to discuss and vote on said successor. Now that the Republicans have a liberal Democrat as the appointor, they are backpedaling to find loopholes in order to avoid this. Raise your hand if you think they would be speaking out like this had the sitting president been a conservative Republican.
Here's the rub, let's say they succeed and the decision is held off until the next president takes office. Their nightmare will only be worsened when Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders nominates Obama. Myself? I'll be sitting back with popcorn, watching.
