Letter: Sen. Grassley wrong to overlook Garland
Charles Allen
Apr. 25, 2017 1:00 am
Sen. Joni Ernst states that Sen. Chuck Grassley ushered the confirmation process 'flawlessly” for a nominee with the highest qualification rating from the American Bar Association to be confirmed to the Supreme Court. It is good to know that it can be done.
She further states the process became very political, therefore 'we” wanted to make sure the vote would actually happen.
Too bad the process did not occur for Judge Merrick Garland, who had the same American Bar Association rating, according to John Nichols writing for 'The Nation” on June 22, 2016.
Politics, really? Sen. Grassley wouldn't even hold a hearing for him. Too bad.
