Letter: Rod Blum is an independent thinker

In his first two years, Congressman Rod Blum has proved that he is an independent thinker who works in a bipartisan manner to solve the many challenges facing our country. Every day we witness increasing acts of terrorism, suffer from a stagnant economy that finds half the workforce underemployed, and struggle to pay for expensive and declining health care. I believe that now, more than ever, we need the leadership of Rod Blum who knows that we do not need bigger government - we need a government that works.

Blum, with a proven record as a successful small business owner, understands when business is strong then employment is strong. Rod knows that when our economy is strong our families will enjoy financial security, our children will find jobs that match their educational success, and our seniors will be relieved knowing that their contributions to Social Security are protected. I know from working with Rod Blum that he knows how to bring individuals with opposing views together to find solutions to difficult problems. Rod will continue to use his experience to strengthen the economy, lower taxes, and reduce burdensome regulations that negatively impact each of us.

I believe Blum is a good man who provides an independent voice for our independent 1st Congressional District. I am proud to be voting for Rod Blum on Nov. 8.
