Letter: Repair streets before investing in Cedar Lake

As an out-of-towner, I suppose my opinion is not wanted about the expensive Cedar Lake improvement some people are promoting.
The project starts at a $5 million deal then grows to an estimated $20 million to complete. I'm sure certain people will make big money if this project goes.
How many people will use this facility? How many people are using the bike trails? And we still have many bikers out here using our 55 mph hard-surfaced roads. As a person who occasionally goes into Cedar Rapids, the rough streets and avenues need money spent for repair, far before any such project that's so expensive and will be used by only a small percentage of people.
