Letter: Protect our land, vote no on pipeline

To condone and vote an explosive pipe across the bread basket of this world that could eventually leak irretrievable lethal chemicals into soils, aquifers, homes, lives is unconscionable.
I am chagrined that those arguing for an environmental apocalypse is dollar driven for a quick pseudo boon for few. Sure there would be a temporary spike in construction jobs to destroy our fields, roads, fences, livestock and ancestral land over the entire state. This would be putting all Iowa people and neighbors in jeopardy for the profit to others out of state.
The buck needs to stop here now with prudence. Legislators must nix the carpetbaggers' greed to ensure the safety of its citizens. Any pro vote should not be tolerated or re-elected.
Ponder how many in Des Moines are actual farmers. In 1787 when the United States Constitution was signed, 50 percent were farmers and there were no career politicians.
