Letter: President Trump has no mandate

I couldn't disagree more with Gary Ellis' letter of Feb. 24 ('It is time to accept Trump as president”).

Until Russian involvement in the election has been fully investigated and possible collusion with the Trump campaign is disproved, he isn't legitimate to me. After all, if you cheat to win the national championship in football you lose your title. The same idea should apply here.

The Russian attacks on the integrity of our electoral process were attacks on the beating heart of our democracy. It's not a matter of 'growing up and getting over the election,” as Ellis asserted, it's about the fact that our president may have cheated to win.

His behavior in this first month, acting as if he has a broad mandate to act, isn't helping his cause. Attacks on the free press, the judiciary and people expressing their right to speak out against tyranny demonstrate he has a fundamental misunderstanding of what makes America great.
