Letter: Politicians not focusing on nation’s problems

I understand the frustration of the electorate with the 'establishment politicians.” Their engaging in hypocrisy, political posturing and demagoguery while the nation's problems go untended angers me, too.
However, the 'alternative candidates” leading the presidential sweepstakes cause me to recall a quip from the 1950s by two-time Democratic standard-bearer Adlai Stevenson.
After a campaign rally, an enthusiastic supporter gushed to Stevenson, 'Mr. Stevenson, you have the support of every thinking American.” He quickly replied, 'Madam, that's not enough. I need a majority!”
