Letter: Parent upset with basketball coverage

As a parent of a basketball athlete and a long time Gazette subscriber, I am extremely disappointed in the lack of coverage and recognition The Gazette has given to the Marion girls.

Why is it the Linn-Mar girls get all the coverage? Not only did Linn-Mar get a lengthy news article in the Feb. 24 paper there was also multiple photos while the Marion team received recognition via a very small article only. This favoritism is a disgrace to our community.

Editor's note: I appreciate and understand your concerns. Unfortunately, we can't be at every game and have to pick and choose which games we can send a staff writer and a photographer. I would argue, however, that throughout the season the coverage of the outstanding Marion girls' basketball team has been pretty equal to that of Linn-Mar.
