Letter: Parade should include high school bands

Once again, I came home from the St. Patrick's Day parade with mixed feelings. There are a bunch of entries with trucks or cars, a few decorations and free advertising.
Where are the bands? We have a number of high schools that are supported by this community. It should be a privilege for them to participate in local parades.
I have written about this before with only one reply. A local band director told me they had to pay a $50 entrance free. I will gladly pay that fee just to have a band. At the present time, it's all the bands traveling out of state to other functions.
You know what they say 'charity begins at home.”
