Letter: Opportunity lost to meet with lawmakers

I've gone to the Linn County League of Women Voters legislative forums for years. It's a great way to hear legislators field questions directly from the public.
Recently, Linn County Farm Bureau held a similar legislative forum on the same day, at the same time as the league forum. My state representative went to the Farm Bureau event, but my state senator attended the League forum. Thus, we constituents lost the opportunity to meet with both our legislators.
The League forums are actually co-sponsored by several local civic organizations. Maybe if Farm Bureau joined them, we would all have a better chance to interact with our elected officials.
