Letter: Mathis is right choice for Iowa’s kids

As a mother, an early childhood professional and a volunteer/advocate with Save the Children Action Network, I would like to applaud The Gazette's choice in endorsing Liz Mathis for state Senator.
I have followed Sen. Mathis over the years and recently heard her speak in Hiawatha at the Iowa Kids & Working Families Candidate Forum and it reinforced my support of her even more.
Sen. Mathis says that 'quality education helps our kids succeed” and she understands that 'quality education” begins before a child enters school. Because of her understanding of important childhood issues, like early education, mental health and literacy, Sen. Mathis is the right choice for Iowa.
