Letter: Marion officials are addicted to noise

I hope the Marion City Council is proud of itself on its recent decision to allow fireworks.
Why is it that Marion is one of the few cities in the state that thinks it is necessary to allow a handful of individuals to deliberately destroy the peace and quiet of the entire community and frighten hundreds of family pets?
With the exception of the mayor and one other council member, I hope the voters remember the council's insensitivity when it comes time to vote again.
Between loud vehicles/motorcycles and now fireworks, I swear the Marion City Council is addicted to noise.
