Letter: Many bicyclists follow the rules

Regarding Lindsey Podzimek's June 8 guest column 'Bicyclists must follow traffic rules, too”:
I thoroughly enjoyed Podzimek's article as I have experienced the same. What she doesn't understand and I have determined, these are feral bicyclists. I have met many domestic riders and they tell me they always are courteous and follow the rules.
Podzimek also doesn't understand the bike lanes are for show, at least that's my observation as the bikes are usually on the sidewalk or in traffic. As I have been driving downtown I have wondered if a bike rider is in the inside bike lane between the curb and cars, traveling at the speed her encounter was, and a passenger opens a door and hits or gets hit by the rider, who is at fault. Probably the passenger as that person is burning fossil fuel (most likely) in a 'Blue” community.
