Letter: Machine guns are not necessary

Please consider contacting your state senator as well as senators across the state about the sense of SF108 allowing possession of machine guns, short-barreled rifles, and short-barreled shotguns. Please tell me why sportsman need these in order to shoot deer, pheasants, ducks or other wildlife. Please tell me whether gun enthusiasts or hobbyists really need these to fill out their collections. What I see is school, theater, bar, mall, home, or workplace massacres coming to Iowa.
Add to that SJR2, or permitless carry. Without background checks or gun licensing and registration, isn't law enforcement hamstrung? Then add SF23 which allows confidentiality for gun owners and that triples my concern for victims of domestic violence.
Gun ownership must have some common-sense limits.
