Letter: Linn County constituents deserve to be heard

The monthly legislative forums held at Mercy Medical Center are public forums sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Linn County. These forums are nonpartisan and all elected state legislators representing constituents in Linn County are invited to participate. The citizens of Linn County who attend the forums provide the questions, not the members of the League of Women Voters. The Linn County citizens are the constituents of the Linn County legislators.
I have attended these forums since the mid-1980s. Mercy Medical Center's Hallagan Education Center is a wonderful facility for this event. It is centrally located and fully accessible with plenty of free parking and the availability for videotaping for future rebroadcasts.
If attending a 75 minute monthly event with Linn County constituents during the legislative session is not considered a good use of a legislators' time, then perhaps being a Linn County legislator is not the right job for those legislators.
