Letter: Kneeling is shameful to veterans

You who refuse to stand for our flag during the playing of our national anthem are shameful to all veterans and Gold Star parents who lost a son or daughter in wartime.

When the NFL played in England they stood for the British national anthem and then knelt during the playing of our national anthem. This game was televised on armed forces TV to our military in the war zone. How do you think they felt when they saw that?

How about the next time our flag is presented and our national anthem is played, the overpaid athletes stay in the locker rooms so they won't be embarrassed by our flag? We can ask a veteran or Gold Star mother or father to go in and tell you when it's safe to come out and play. Then you can run out in the field and show how big and tough you are.

NFL owners, it's OK for you to cower and buckle under, too, just stop asking the government for money when you need it.

I stand for our flag.
