Letter: Keep traffic cameras to monitor violations

The vocal minority of people who complain about the traffic cameras constantly make the statement that the cameras are in place to make money. If that were the case, the speeding tickets would be issued for anyone going 56 miles per hour instead of 66 miles per hour. It's a fact that drivers are either intentionally ignoring the speed limit or not paying attention to the visible posted traffic signs - drivers don't 'accidentally” speed.
If you want the cameras to go away, obey the posted speed limits, it's not a difficult task. And why not let those drivers who exceed 65 mph pay for that privilege and provide law enforcement funding - much better than having our taxes raised. Support law enforcement and support the use of cameras to monitor speed limit violations.
