Letter: Keep the council progressive and diverse
Christopher Warnock

Iowa Citians are proud of our reputation as the most progressive and most diverse city in Iowa. But for years the conservative establishment here has been hiding behind fake progressives and surface diversity. Mazahir Salih and Ryan Hall are true progressives, not part of the downtown/developer clique, and are truly diverse candidates.
Hall has shown through a tremendous campaign that he has what it takes to change and align Iowa City government with the true progressive politics of Iowa City residents.
If elected, Salih will be the first Muslim-American on the Iowa City Council. I am proud that during a time that our nation is filled with anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant bigotry that Iowa City is bucking the trend and showing its true progressive colors.
I strongly support Salih for the At-Large seat and Hall for the District B seat.
