Letter: Justin Shields is generous, determined

Cedar Rapids has been very well served by the involvement of Justin Shields. A man whose passion lies with improving the community, Shields applies enormous time and energy to the many issues that confront us. And results throughout his time on the City Council speak for themselves.

As council member, he was instrumental in the Iowa State/Cedar Rapids partnership for jobs and education, advancing the Paving for Progress initiative, and ensuring that fire and police departments are strong and adequately funded. His advocacy of scores of other projects is well known; he is always at the right gathering at the right time to move the process forward.

Shields is a generous, determined, passionate, and successful representative for District 5. I strongly urge voters to return him to that seat and endorse his commitment to the enhancement of our city.
