Letter: Independent voters crucial to election

Oct. 23, 2016 1:00 am
The Independent voters are crucial in this election as they make up more than one third of the electorate. They have no party affiliation, have no platform and yet have a vote, which is being sought by both of our flawed candidates for the presidency.
The time has come for all good people to come to the aid of the country. These Independent voters who profess a dislike for politics have a responsibility as citizens to pay their dues. They need to assess the platforms of each party and then decide which one gets their votes. Will it be the party of ‘more of the same' tax the rich, abort the babies, same sex marriage, a mounting national debt and an open border policy or will it be the party of fiscal responsibility, saving the lives of the unborn babies, marriage between one man and one woman and stringent border patrol?
That sentence, 'The time has come for all good men to come to the aid of the country” is not just a typing class assignment; it is a mandate for each and every Independent voter because our country is at risk in a very serious way right now.
