Letter: Ignorance is our greatest threat

Scott Grau's June 17 guest column 'A history of our right to bear arms” should be required reading for all adults and high schoolers in the country.
Many people are so vocal about the Second Amendment and their Constitutional rights, but they don't know that this is not a right that comes from the Constitution. They scream about 'activist” judges, but the individual right to own firearms decision came from a judge, not the Constitution, as Grau points out.
What's the answer? Education. Among the most important people in our country are the social studies teachers. I wonder if they're taking advantage of current events to educate young people about the Second Amendment. I can only hope so.
Not terrorism, not the economy, not immigrants, but ignorance will always be the greatest threat this country faces.
