Letter: Hire consultant to study golf options

How many years does the golf division need to go in the red before those who make the decisions and those who are making the recommendations wake up and smell the greens?
If the problems can't be solved in house then it's time to call in a consultant. I know that hiring a consultant may not be popular, but something needs to be done. Closing Jones would be a bad decision. Jones should never have been expanded to 18 holes given what Indian Creek can do and what it had done before the expansion. Jones can be a nine-hole course and make money doing so by keeping leagues. The leagues are the bread and butter for the courses because that play is guaranteed and open play is not. Many of the players in these leagues are working full-time and nine holes would work out well for them.
I am hoping that someone wakes up before they decide to sell the other courses. Raising the prices will not bring in more players, however, offering legitimate specials without strings attached will.
