Letter: Hats off to the local Boys & Girls Club

On Jan. 10, I had the pleasure of attending the Youth of the Year finals for the Boys & Girls Club of Cedar Rapids at the First Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids.
It is often stated that it takes a community to grow our youth in Cedar Rapids. Hats off to the directors and staff of our local Boys & Girls Club who have done a fantastic job of helping our kids, beginning in 1993. We are proud of their continuous and varied youth development programs. I witnessed six excellent presentations that made many parents and friends extremely proud.
Nicole Techau was named the 2018 Youth of the Year and I wish her well as she competes at state and national levels. Cedar Rapids is proud and thankful for the Boys & Girls Club of Cedar Rapids and the many children that they help on a daily basis.
