Letter: Grateful to have female firefighters as mentors

I want to acknowledge the first 'Fully Involved: Young Women's Fire Academy” offered by the Cedar Rapids Fire Department.
My daughter participated in it and it is not an exaggeration to say that the four day program changed her life. As a parent, it was wonderful to see my daughter's interest in EMS turn into a passionate goal. The program was taught by the female firefighters of Cedar Rapids. These women not only serve their community, but they have dedicated themselves to helping other young women follow in their footsteps. I cannot think of people I would be happier to have mentor my daughter.
Thank you to the women of Cedar Rapids Fire Department.
