Letter: Grassley’s comments are an embarrassment

As a citizen of the state of Iowa I have grown accustomed to hearing or reading comments made by Rep. Steve King being an embarrassment. Now it seems I can add Sen. Chuck Grassley to that list. With his latest reference to the estate tax repeal and the comment that the tax doesn't recognize 'those that are just spending every darn penny they have, whether it's on booze, women or movies.”
Of course, it couldn't be that unlike a millionaire like himself who has an excellent health plan, higher than average salary and a large lifetime pension coming his way paid for by the taxpayers, many of those individuals he is speaking of must find sufficient funding to pay a home mortgage, buy health insurance, perhaps pay for student loans and child care.
Please, Sen. Grassley, tell us again how those of us who are not millionaires like yourself should agree that you deserve another tax break.
