Letter: Grassley, King are ignoring the issues

Four of Iowa's six federally elected legislators have agreed to put partisan ideologies aside and cooperatively work on key policy issues: Sen. Joni Ernst, Rep. Rod Blum, Rep. David Young and Rep. Dave Loebsack. I commend them for co-sponsoring bipartisan seeking resolutions, SR 199 and HR 207, respectively.
The only action SR 199 and HR 207 requests is that our 545 members of Congress try to work with people of the opposite party.
Sen. Chuck Grassley and Rep. Steve King have ignored nearly 9,000 Iowa voters, all members of the nationwide bipartisan and not-for-profit group No Labels, who have requested Grassley and King to co-sponsor the resolutions. Hence, Grassley and King are refusing to discuss with other politicians issues that the majority of Republicans, Democrats and independents agree are important: $19 trillion federal deficit, Social Security, Medicare, energy, and job creation.
I cannot find any logical reason for Grassley and King to purposely ignore an ‘attempt' at bipartisanship legislation, especially when 97 percent of Americans want our elected officials to be problem solvers.
Maybe Grassley and King, career politicians for 42 and 20 years, respectively, are getting too old or too comfortable in their protected political seat to care what's in the best interest of Iowa and America: solving problems.
Since Grassley and King don't want to portray common civility in the policymaking process, mature and responsible replacements are in order.
