Letter: Government is dangerous, disliked

The city will spend $13,277 per acre on 36 acres, not to purchase and own it, but to plant saplings on it at a cost of $637 per sapling. Perhaps we already have too many saplings in government and the press. Council members who can't see other possible ways to fund tree planting, and can't correctly prioritize spending, may fit that category. Gazette writers and their editors who describe how 'wide” a sewer is also deserve mention. (The word 'diameter” fully describes the shape. The word 'wide” doesn't.)

It is often reported that ignorance is bliss, but it's seldom mentioned how common it is. The most common misconception is that everyone thinks that they have great logic and would be great in government.

That is why our government is so dangerous and so disliked. We and our economy are being suffocated by overregulation and overspending by our gregarious, unqualified layer cake of governments.
