Letter: Golf course consultant a waste of money

Our city has sat on the fence too long as far as I am concerned and needs to deal with the issue of our golf courses operating in the red and not at first by hiring a consultant for $50,000 plus expenses.
The city should gather a group of golfers, nongolfers and employees of the golf courses to discuss this issue. Many suggestions would be offered up for discussion and, yes, some would not make the cut, but I believe our citizens as a group will come up with solid suggestions.
Lynda Waddington suggested turning one course into a miniature golf course and that is one idea from one person. Add more people to the discussion and you have more ideas. I would hope that a group of people could find solutions to our courses operating in the red and if they don't it will only cost the city coffee and doughnuts which is a savings of $49,950 over the consultant option.
