Letter: Funding must end for Planned Parenthood

Forty-five years ago, on Jan. 22, 1973, the Supreme Court usurped its power by making abortion on demand legal in the United States. The Roe v. Wade decision was not signed into law by the House and Senate nor was it signed by the then president so abortion is not a constitutional right.

The largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood recently published its annual report which shows that its services dropped by 1.4 million yet the number of abortions remained steady at about 328,000 a year. One hundred or 14 percent of Planned Parenthood facilities have closed in this country, which proves that abortion was and is the main focus of its existence.

Abortion is the leading cause of death and we the taxpayers subsidized it to the tune of $543.7 million. This ought to be on the conscience of every one of us who pay taxes. It is up to us, ‘we, the people' to insist that Planned Parenthood not get one cent in any budget put forth by Congress this year. We can't afford to keep losing one quarter of the next generation of Americans.
