Letter: Eye 380 volunteers grateful for support

Eye 380 volunteers would like to thank those companies and individuals who have given financial support in recent years for enhancing the Interstate 380 roadside through the metro area. It is only through public contributions that we have developed and maintained four sites in Hiawatha and Cedar Rapids along what we believe is our main street.

In 2018, we hope to begin work on grubbing dead trees and brush in the downtown strip along I-380 adjacent to Cedar Lake. Eventually, we will plant new shrubs and flowers in this area, a small part in the exciting rebirth of the Cedar Lake commons. Our vision is to develop colorful native plant sites at other spots along the I-380 in-city corridor.

Please consider adding your name to the Eye 380 support list on our website, www.eye380.org. We have no paid staff, but we must hire licensed and bonded landscapers to prune, replant, mulch, mow and water when necessary. We also are looking to add to our ad hoc planning group.

Trees Forever, 770 Seventh Ave., Marion, IA, 52302, acts as our fiscal agent. Checks can be made out to Trees Forever, with an Eye 380 notation. Trees Forever also provides us with a meeting place. We are grateful for its support.
