Letter: Excessive sodium intake is hazardous
Jim Pruitt
Jun. 14, 2016 1:00 am
David Harsanyi's June 6 column 'War on salt is based on bad science” claims excessive sodium intake has not been proven to affect health, and refers to a meta-study by the American Journal of Hypertension as evidence. However, the actual conclusion of the study refutes his argument: 'Both low sodium intakes and high sodium intakes are associated with increased mortality, consistent with a U-shaped association between sodium intake and health outcomes.”
As with climate change, don't twist science to fit your politics. In the end, science and nature always win.
