Letter: Enjoy short-lived pipeline victory

Let's celebrate the victory of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and the defeat of the United States of America and modern technology.
We have built engineering colleges where young minds learn about metallurgical stresses, hydraulics, electronic sensors and controls, so that we can build safe transportation of energy needs for the welfare of all people, and we wind up taking the council of a group of people who were so disinterested in the project that they didn't show up for any of the meetings before the project started.
Sorry if I don't celebrate with you. I trust our country to have enough 'can do” left in it to take advantage of the blessings that this planet presents to us. The Bakken oil find is not a bad thing. Sending billions of dollars to Middle Eastern countries who hate and want to kill us is a bad thing. Wasting $2 billion on a pipeline to nowhere is a bad thing. Telling the public that running a pipeline under the Missouri River is dangerous when there are eight pipelines in existence is a bad thing. Not making the public aware that the pipeline would be as much as 90 feet below the bottom of the river is a bad thing.
Enjoy your victory while you can. I think the new administration will make sure that this and the XL pipelines are completed for the betterment of our economy and our national wealth.
